Before you embark on this enlightening holiday however, we thought we’d introduce you to the world of Hatha Yoga.

What is Hatha Yoga?

Hatha Yoga is an ancient and classic form of relaxation, traditionally used to prepare a person for meditation. The practice has flourished over the years, using the combined or ‘duel’ yoga method of opposite styles in order to help breathing (pranayam), yoga postures (asana) and relaxation.

The word Hatha means sun (ha) and moon (tha) in Hinda and the combination of these two opposites aids in the technical, yet relaxing, structure of the yoga technique.

Benefits of Practicing Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga doesn’t just push your body physically, proving to be an effective method of keeping physically fit, it also plays a big role in helping you control your breathing. Control over breathing has been a vital part in improving a practitioners oxygen intake for centuries. Controlling your breathing aids in fighting off stress from your everyday life.

Why is Crete the Perfect Place to Practice Hatha Yoga?

Crete hums with its own specific energy and life passed down through the ages. The location of our yoga week takes place in the mesmerising archaeological site of Aptera in North West Crete. Dedicated to the healing and grounding nature of the ancient goddess Diana, and with views of the empowering White Mountains (Lefka Ori), the site imbues the art of Hatha Yoga with its own energy and power.

With the chance to practice Hatha Yoga inside and out- depending on the weather- you are able to benefit from the stunning gardens and the luxurious yoga rooms.

No matter whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned practitioner, our Hatha Yoga holiday will take you on a journey of self discovery and will help you to re-connect with yourself. For more information about our yoga holiday, don’t hesitate to contact us today on 01444 880 404
