Douliana is a small pretty traditional village, with narrow streets and tiny village square, sitting above Souda bay surrounded by olive groves with views to the White Mountains and Souda bay.

It’s an excellent location for visiting the sandy beaches of Kalives or Almyrida, (5km) or Vamos (2km) with its quaint shops, traditional buildings, village co-operative and excellent tavernas) Douliana itself has a well stocked minimarket, 2 tavernas (one mentioned in the Rough Guide) and a kafeneon. You can even walk down to a small local beach (3km). The historical town of Chania with its beautiful Venetian harbour is 30 minutes to the west, while the town of Rethymnon is 40 minutes drive east. The archaeological sites of Knossos and Phaestos are 1.5hrs drive from the village.
