B category - Sleeps 3/4 Nestled in the foothills of the White Mountains, 15 minutes drive from the golden sands of Giorgiopoli, is Lake Kournas, the only freshwater lake in the Greek Isles. It is one kilometre in length and breadth and its clean blue water is a delight to swim in. It also has a choice of lakeside tavernas with a selection of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Just over a mile from the lake, the road winds up to Eleni's which has double and twin beds and a vine covered roof terrace to enjoy both lake and sea views and private sunbathing. It is one of two adjoining houses built more than a century ago and enjoys an awe-inspiring view beyond its abundant garden of fruit trees and flowers to the rolling countryside and mountains beyond. Quiet and peaceful, Eleni's is within easy reach of the lake or the sands of Georgiopoli. . The house is traditionally constructed with a large Cretan arch dividing it into 4 quadrants offering a choice of comfortable seating areas, an open fire and table & chairs. The kitchen area is fully equipped (with fridge, oven, sink etc). Behind the Cretan arch, staircases rise to a double bed on one side and twin beds on the other. A low, small doorway leads to the bathroom with small bath and shower.An outside staircase leads to the roof terrace, shaded by vines with mountain, sea and lake views. Eleni's is 1 mile from Lake Kournas and it's tavernas and 4 miles from the nearest beach.
