Over 15 years this admirable little operator has developed a programme of more than 50 traditional farms and cottages among the villages in the foothills of the White Mountains (south-east of Chania). Many were originally derelict, and Pure Crete has helped the local owners restore them in the most sympathetic manner possible. To avoid changing the character of the environs, only about 10 per cent of properties have a pool, but most are within a 10-minute drive from the beaches of the north-west coast.
