Tsivaras is a typically Cretan hamlet with a few traditional houses and a local kafeneon, which also serves as a mini market.

The village is just 2 kms from the coast (Kera beach, which is walking distance). Kalives with its taverna lined Sandy beaches and shops is just a 5 minute drive away as is the village of Vamos, the administrative centre of the regions, with its quaint shops, traditional buildings, village co-operative and excellent tavernas. The historical town of Chania with its beautiful Venetian harbour is 30 minutes to the west, while the town of Rethymnon is 40 minutes drive East. The archaeological sites of Knossos and Phaestos are 1.5hrs hour’s drive from the village.
