Tzitzifes

Tzitzifes is a small traditional village in the foothills of the White Mountains with beautiful views across the fertile valley of Vrisses. The village is surrounded by trees and has a good local taverna, kafenion (pictured) and a small grocery store. Traditional Cretan ewes milk cheese is made in the village.  

The sandy beaches of Kalives or Georgioupoli can be reached by car in 15 minutes, the village of Fres, with tavernas and a small grocery store, is just five minutes away while the village of Vrisses with its shaded riverside tavernas, and further amenities is just 10 minutes drive away. The historical town of Chania with its beautiful Venetian harbour is 30 minutes to the west, while the town of Rethymnon is approximately 40 minutes drive East. The archaeological sites of Knossos and Phaestos are just over an hour’s drive from the village.
