The recently renovated Vigla House has a spectacular elevated position surrounded by olive trees above a small traditional Cretan village of Patilari near Agia Lake.

The house comprises one double and one twin bedroom; (NOTE: staircase leads into a large double bedroom. For the second bedroom and bathroom go through the double room).  

Bathroom with corner bath/shower, sink and w/c and a separate w/c on the ground floor; a large open plan kitchen/living area with a traditional wood burning stove and all the usual appliances including a washing machine, iron, stereo, television.

A wooden terrace leads off from the double bedroom and looks down onto the pool and olive and orange groves below. There are two terraces on the ground floor with stunning views over the river valley. Two olive trees shade the swimming pool and provide support for a hammock. The terrace/garden area around the pool has the majestic backdrop of the White Mountains in the distance.

Off the beaten track, yet only 5km from the Aegean coast, this unspoilt area offers excellent walking, bird watching and cycling opportunities with the White Mountains providing a dramatic backdrop. Also nearby is the wildlife lake at Agia where egrets, herons and kingfishers are among regular visitors. At Agia lake there are two cafe's one of which has an excellent children's soft play area. Limnoupolis Water Park, which has great facilities for both adults and children, is just fifteen minutes drive from the house. The village itself is a typical small Cretan village with a tiny school house, two shops, three kafenions and several beautiful small churches. The beautiful beaches at Agia Apostoli, Maleme and Gerani are all only about 15 minutes drive. In addition to the famous Samaria gorge there are many other walks starting in the White Mountains. These include shorter and even more beautiful ravines such as Agia Irini. Chania, Crete's second largest town with its Venetian harbour, excellent restaurants and lively nightlife is 15 kms to the East.

The new airport at Chania is 30 minutes drive and offers easy access. Guidebooks are kept in the house for visitors along with many novels.

Car hire is essential (smaller cars are recommended as the road close to the house is very narrow and turning can be a problem) Please note that there are no Tavernas within walking distance.
