Kalives
The village of Kalives is by the sea, close to the entrance to Souda Bay, 20 km east of Chania. The countryside close to Kalives, with many olive groves is greener than elsewhere in Crete and the White Mountains make for a sensational backdrop.
Kalives is a charming seaside town that retains the feel of a sleepy Greek village whilst offering many of the attractions and facilities of a Mediterranean resort, which include several good town beaches and a good choice of cafe-bars, traditional tavernas and shops. There is an excellent bakers and butchers and many other shops and small stores including green grocers, local wine shops and hand made jewellery and gift shops.
