It’s no secret that Crete offers some of the finest beaches in the world, with warm waters, golden sands and endless sun. Unfortunately, as a result, it can often be difficult to find the peace and seclusion you want from a beach holiday, especially during peak times.

But Crete is a very large island, and has more than a few beaches where you can get away from it all and enjoy true peace and quiet. There are still plenty of places on Crete unknown to many travellers which boast incredible sand and sea, and some truly stunning scenery. Here are some of the best secluded beaches all around the island. Take a look, and book your peaceful dream holiday with Pure Crete.

Orthi Ammos, Frangokastello

One of the most picturesque and quiet beaches in Crete, this is a must visit for anyone looking for seclusion and relaxation. Frangokastello, on the south coast of Chania, has two more popular beaches, but a short distance east of the castle lies Orthi Ammos, one of the real undiscovered gems of Crete. Try it out, and you won’t be disappointed.

Damnoni, near Plakias

Several kilometres west of the village of Plakias, this one will require a car or a long walk, but it’s more than worth it when you see the view. One of the best secluded beaches in the whole of Crete, this beach is truly unspoilt yet still boasts crystalline waters lapping onto fine, golden sand.

Milatos, Lassithi

Milatos, a small and quaint fishing village in Lassithi, boasts an excellent beach via a dirt track from the main beach in the area. Unknown to many visitors in the area, it offers an excellent quieter spot to get away from the crowds and enjoy the natural beauty of Crete.

Kato Zakros, Lassithi

This superb and isolated cove near Zakros is completely natural, although be warned – there are no facilities here at all. The beach is more pebbly than others in Crete, but the scenery is simply stunning, and you can guarantee that you’ll get total peace of mind. If you’re really looking to get away from it all and relax, you won’t find anywhere better.
