Situated high on the Eastern ‘Metoche’ side of Aptera village, Western Crete The Sculptor’s House and Sculptor’s Cottage command breathtaking views over Souda Bay and in the opposite direction, towards the White Mountains. They share a large pool.
The Sculptor’s properties have been restored to provide two separate dwellings of unique charm which may be rented together or individually.
The main house has a spacious living/dining room with kitchen facilities (mini oven & 2 ring hob) and a single bed. Living room leads through a Cretan archway to a double bedroom which may be closed off completely by a curtain. The bathroom (with shower) is off the bedroom and has a second entrance outside.
Sculptor’s House is within walking distance (3/4 mile) of a choice of village tavernas and local store and a short drive (4 miles) to a choice of sandy beaches at Blue Beach, Kalami and Kalives.

What The Papers Say
"“We ate every night at the tiny Taverna Aptera where the food was the best I have ever had in Greece. Not a sign of moussaka or souvlaki. Instead there was lamb with lettuce in an egg and lemon sauce, black-eyed beans with fennel, salt codfish in filo pastry. "
"The taverna made all the difference to our stay. It meant minimal shopping (bread, yoghurt, oranges – all local – for breakfast) and no need to use the car at night. It was a full moon while we were there and the walk back up the track to the house, if occasionally unsteady, was always a pleasure”
Anna Pavord, The Independent
“Pure Crete should be a pleasant surprise. They specialise in refurbishing traditional stone houses in hideaway villages far removed from the brash tourist towns. We stayed in Megala Chorafia, where our house, complete with pool, offered panoramic views of snow-capped mountains on one side and the turquoise waters of Souda Bay on the other. "
"There are good tavernas nearby and, even with children, eating out is stress-free and enjoyable. Crete is warm until the end of October and there is plenty to see. Don’t miss the ruins at Knossos, Chania old town and Panagia Kera church in Kritsa with its 14th and 15th century frescoes”
