Situated in the small and unspoilt hillside village of Douliana, half an hour’s drive from Chania are Natalia’s houses, a group of 4 characterful stone cottages with a shared pool and shaded pretty terrace and beautifully presented and looked after by Natalia and her mother Voula.
Their little onsite store called Treasures of Crete sells authentic Cretan products: - marmalades made by Voula, organic carob products, local honey, their own olive oil, Cretan wines, raki and Hand-picked wild herbs by Natalia.
The small taverna offers breakfast as well as lunch and dinner, based on traditional recipes using local products, seasonal fruits and vegetables from Natalias garden or locally sourced.
There is a choice of four stone holiday cottages, each with its own partially covered veranda to sit out and enjoy the views. Each cottage comes with air-con, well-equipped kitchen, including cutlery, plates and cooking utensils, ironing board and iron, a hair dryer and a safety deposit box. All bed linen and towels are provided.
Dias and Hera Houses – two small cottages, side by side and identical inside, each is suitable for up to three people, with a lounge, kitchen, dining space and shower room, plus a staircase leading to a wooden mezzanine floor, with a large double bed.
Lydia Cottage – a spacious ground floor two-bedroom cottage, with a double and twin bedroom, as well as a kitchen, shower room, dining area and comfortable lounge.
Agapi Cottage - the largest of the stone cottages on two floors, accommodating up to five people, with both a single bedroom and large double bedroom reached via a wooden staircase, plus an additional mezzanine loft room with two single beds. One shower room, and one bathroom with twin washbasins, a WC and a large bathtub. There is also a kitchen, dining area and lounge.
Douliana
A peaceful village with views of the White Mountains and surrounded by vineyards, carob trees and olive groves. With small narrow streets and most of the buildings dating back to the 1800s. Here you can still witness, the true rural way of Cretan life. Ideal for families, hikers and nature lovers with many countryside footpaths to explore. Douliana has been awarded with protected Village status due to its historic stone buildings. It’s just a 10 min drive from the sandy beaches of Kalyves and Almirida and has two tavernas and a café whilst the nearest supermarket and bakery can be found in Gavalochori another pretty village worth visiting.
