‘Legend has it that the islands at the mouth of Souda Bay were formed after a musical contest between Muses and Sirens. Defeated, the Sirens plucked off their wings and flung themselves into the sea to become islands’.

Muses commands impressive views across Souda Bay over its garden and a pebble beach in front, and is only a stone’s throw to the small sandy beach at Kalami.
Standing alone, Muses is a traditional Cretan family house of great charm. It is stone-built which means it remains cool in the summer and kept warm during Spring and Autumn evenings with its cosy Cretan fireplace.
Muses’ is a spacious and comfortable house. The outstanding views can be enjoyed from the house or from the sitting out areas in its own garden, ideal for dining, relaxing and sunbathing.
Nearest cafe and taverna (seasonal opening) 1 mile (uphill walk). Kalives with its tavernas, beautiful sandy beach, shops, supermarket, bank and post office 5 minutes drive away.
The pebble beach below the house is ideal for swimming and relaxing and the sandy beach, with a jetty from which to plunge, is only a few hundred yards away.
